Requirements before continuing: To be able to compete, a dancer MUST take ballet, jazz, tap, and at least one other class. Acro is highly encouraged. There will also be a technique class on rehearsal days that are a requirement as well.
What?
As some studios in the area do not compete at this time, this gives certain individuals the option who would like that opportunity. We, as a team, compete under Dream Team Dance as a way to provide a safe space to do so.
Why?
Dance competitions are a way for a dancer to show their talents to others with feedback given. It helps to see where a student is with their dancing; as well as to see where they can go. Competitions are for those who would like to take their love of dance from a hobby to a sport.
When/where?
Rehearsals will take place on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings with some extra practices involved. The schedule might change based on room availability. A more detailed schedule will comes out before each month. We attend 3 required competitions for all dances. These competitions will take place between the months of February- May. With the choreographer's permission, dancers may enter in as many competitions as they would like. All competitions we will attend will most likely be located in the Grand Rapids area. A required Nationals takes place every other year.
